The suspended trial of Abdullah Talib Sawari is entering its second year, as the Iranian Revolutionary Court refuses to direct any charges or bring him to a fair trial.
The cultural activist and Sunni citizen of Ahwaz, Abdullah Sawari was arrested on October 19, 2018 – (۲۷/۷/۱۳۹۷) – in relation to “the platform” operation that targeted a military parade of the Revolutionary Guards in Ahwaz.

 

Abdullah Sawari , 37 years old, born in 1983, is graduate of a computer institute. He works as an employee in the municipality where he lives in Thawra neighbourhood in the city of Ahwaz, the capital. He is married and has a daughter.

 

According to the Ahwazi Organization for the Defence of Human Rights, the authorities of the Iranian regime have taken prisoner Abdullah Talib Sawari in Shaiban prison in the eighth section without trial or clear charges.

 

The Ahwazi Organization for the Defence of Human Rights calls on human rights organizations to intervene to end the policy of collective punishment that the Iranian regime continuously practices against the Ahwazi people through mass detention campaigns, and deprivation of prisoners and detainees of fair trial guarantees.

 

The organization affirms that the Iranian regime challenges the international community by violating international laws and norms in dealing with prisoners, which requires urgent and urgent intervention to stop its arrogance against the defenceless people of Ahwaz.
