The Sayahi neighborhood in Ahwaz has become a symbol of neglect after the spread of exposed sewage, which with time turned into swamps that swallow the innocent children of Ahwaz.

 

 

The Iranian regimeโ€™s authorities deliberately neglected to solve the sewage crisis, placing Ahwazi children in danger, regardless of the consequences, which always end in disastrous results.

 

The last victim of this neglect is the death of the two-year-old Al-Ahwazi Ritaj Jabbar Haidari, who drowned as a result of her fall into a sewage channel in front of her familyโ€™s home in the Sayahi neighborhood, west of Ahwaz, the capital.

 

 

It only took a few minutes for Ritaj to breathe her last breath after falling into the uncovered sewage channel, as her family was unable to help her, leaving behind the memory of the pain and sadness in the hearts of her parents.

 

 

Ritaj is not the first child to be a victim of death swamps; It is the third child to lose their life by drowning in the Sayahi neighborhood during the last three years.

 

 

In this regard, the Ahwazi Organization for the Defence of Human Rights holds the Iranian regime fully responsible for the death of the child Ritaj Jabbar Haidari, and other children who were victims of deliberate neglect and racial discrimination practiced by the regime authorities in Ahwaz.

 

The organization stresses that the Iranian regimeโ€™s authorities are striking at the expense of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 20 November 1989.

 

 

The organization notes that the Convention provides in its basic principles to protect children from all abuse that they face, including non-discrimination and the right to life, survival, and development.

 

 

The organization explains that the Iranian regime does not care about the lives of Ahwazi children, and this is evident in its failure to find a solution to the crisis of uncovered sewage channels that have become death swamps that swallow children.

 

 

And stresses that Ahwazi children have fallen victim to racial discrimination by the Iranian regime and its local arms in Ahwaz, which calls for urgent international action to hold accountable all those who underestimate the lives of children and neglect their rights.
