Urgent relief call to stop the Iranian thirsty policy in Ghezaniyeh village, Ahwaz

The Ahwazi Organization for the defence of Human Rights launches an urgent relief call to rescue the people of Ghezaniyeh village in Ahwaz, warning of the dangerous repercussions of the “thirst policy” pursued by the Iranian regime against the Ahwazi people.

 

The village of Ghezaniyeh witnessed violent clashes between the people and the security apparatus of the Iranian regime early this week, as the people cut the main road to protest the continuous water cuts and the scarcity of drinking water, as the Iranian regime ignored their demands.

 

The Iranian regime pushed its security services to break up the protest by force, as the repressive forces beat up the people using gunshots and batons, wounding many citizens, including a child, and arresting others.

 

According to local officials, and the people of this region, the number of oil wells is close to 750 wells with huge oil companies; While there is not single water well to meet the needs of the afflicted villagers.

 

What confirms the suffering of the people of the village, “Iran” newspaper published, on Tuesday 26 May, a report in which it confirmed that despite the promises of officials to increase the number of water transport tanks to 15 tanks, these promises were not fulfilled, and the village did not witness the entry of water tanks Since last Monday.

 

Local media quoted Abu Zahraa Brihi, a member of the village council, “Abdel-Sayed Damdar”, which belongs to Ghezaniyeh, as saying that officials and journalists went on Monday to the water station, and they waited there, but the water trucks did not come.

 

Underscoring the Iranian regime’s intransigence, Brihi said that 20 days ago, officials from the sewage network came to the village and asked us to pay a sum of the village’s budget for them to build water pipes to it, adding: “We gave them 15 million tomans from the village’s budget, and they installed pipes Drinking water, but the water still hasn’t reached the village. ”

 

The Ahwazi Organization for the defence of Human Rights affirms that while the Persian settlements enjoy the natural capabilities of the Ahwaz, such as water, land, and others, the Iranian regime is taking advantage of the summer to intensify its sanctions against Ghezaniyeh and other Ahwazi villages through the policy of “thirsting”.

 

The organization believes that the issue of water scarcity in the village of Ghezaniyeh and others takes on more dangerous dimensions, which is represented in the Iranian regime’s pursuit of a thirsty policy to displace the Ahwazi people from its lands.

 

The organization notes that the scenery of the oil pipelines that penetrate the middle and outskirts of the Ghezaniyeh village embodies the thirsty policy pursued by the Iranian regime, asking: “If the regime has the ability and capability to extend the oil lines and transfer the waters of the Karun River to Isfahan, why does it ignore the demands of the villagers, despite the decisions of The head of the Iranian regime, Hassan Rouhani, and the promises of the Governor of Ahwaz, Ghulam Reza Shariati, to provide drinking water for this village?

 

And if in 2010 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a landmark resolution declaring that “the right to safe and clean drinking water and sanitation services is a human right”, it obligated the Member States to create conditions to ensure universal access to safe water and sanitation Without any discrimination, especially the most disadvantaged groups; The Ahwazi Organization for the defence of Human Rights calls on the United Nations to carry out the duty entrusted to it and put pressure on the Iranian regime to provide safe drinking water not only for the people of Ghezaniyeh , but for all villages that suffer from water scarcity in all Ahwazi lands.
