Tostari family warns of his deteriorating health and confirms his determination to strike

The family of Yaqoub Hor Tostari, a former media official in the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahwaz, warned of the deterioration of his health after he entered a hunger strike for the fourth week in Denmark.

The family indicated that his health is getting worse after he lost nearly seventeen kilograms, confirming his determination to resist, denouncing Denmark‘s extension of his detention without any legal justification.

A family member revealed the details of the meeting that he recently had with Yaqoub Hor Tostari his detention facility, saying “Yaqoub’s health afflicted me and I stood astonished for a while; I never expected to see him in this situation, quickly and with spontaneous and involuntary words dominated by the feelings of the brothers”.

He further advised Mr. Hor, telling him “not to stop and break your hunger strike not only for your sake but also for the sake of your children and your family that does not fall asleep while waiting for your return. Mr. Hor looked at him with a smile that can’t be explained in any way but a smile of pride, like the palm of Ahwaz, and told me “Resistance is a duty in my life”

He explained that Tostari assured him of continuing the strike, saying “Ahwaz, my case is more precious than anything, there is where my family and my history are, there is where my childhood and my memories are there is where the beginning and the end are” concluding with his saying “Ahwaz is my case.”

For its part, The Ahwazi Organization for the Defence of Human Rights expresses its deep concern about the continued detention of Yaqoub Hor Tostari, a former media official in the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahwaz.

The organization holds the Danish authorities fully responsible for the life of Yaqoub Hor, noting that his continued detention harms Denmark’s reputation, its obligations, and its respect for human rights.

It also denounces the silence of human rights organizations and bodies inside and outside Denmark about the continued arrest of Tostari and the subsequent hunger strike that entered its fourth week without moving a finger to his case.
