The Iranian regime is not satisfied with confiscating Ahwazi lands and turning them into barren land because of its racist policy, but it is also preventing water from Ahwazi citizens, turning their lives into an unbearable hell.

The village of Ain Hammad, one of the western suburbs of the city of Ramez (Ramhurmuz), is a vivid example of this suffering experienced by many Al-Ahwaz villages and cities, where they suffer from great water scarcity, especially during the summer season, matched by high consumption of water reserves in Persian settlements.

Ahwaz is known for its record high-temperature levels that get intense through the summer, besides, the increase in the frequency and intensity of heatwaves, dust storms, and drought.

The great irony in this matter is that the village of Ain Hammad, which has lacked water for eight months of this year, is located 10 kilometres from Ramez, a country rich in wealth and oil companies.

The Ahwazi Organization for the Defence of Human Rights confirms that the Iranian regime seeks, as usual, not to let any opportunity to increase the daily suffering of the Ahwazis pass, especially with the spread of the new Corona epidemic (Covid-19), which increased with it the demand for water as water is the first weapon in the face of the virus.

The organization notes that the Iranian regime’s systematic violations of human rights on a collective scale, one of its most devastating consequences is the harmful impact of its discriminatory policies on the Ahwazis’ access to adequate supplies of clean and safe water.

The organization stresses that, under international law, the Iranian government has a responsibility to respect the human right of the Ahwazis to water, and forcing it to refrain from taking measures that would violate this right, or undermine the Ahwazi’s opportunity to realize this right, and it must take deliberate, concrete and targeted steps to ensure This right is fully fulfilled and fulfilled.

Finally, the organization affirms that it is time for the international community to put an end to the Iranian regime’s discriminatory policies against the Ahwazis and meet their dire need for water security, as well as enjoy their right to water, food and health care.
