The Ahwazi Organization for Human Rights condemns the arrest of activist Abdul Salam Othmani without legal basis
The Ahwazi Organization for the Defense of Human Rights condemned the systematic arrests of the Iranian security services against cultural activists in various cities and villages of the Ahwaz region.
This repressive campaign comes with direct orders from the Iranian intelligence services to intimidate the young Ahwazi and prevent any action by the Ahwazi people, fearing that it will turn into a widespread popular movement in light of the meager political, economic and social conditions that the Iranian regime is going through.
The human rights organization confirmed that the authorities of the Iranian regime arrested Mr. Abdul Salam Othmani, known as Abu Taha, on Monday, April 20, without an arrest warrant from an official authority or legal document, and took him to an unknown location.
The sources confirmed that a joint security force with Iranian intelligence services raided the house of Mr. Abdul Salam Othmani in a horrific manner and without regard to the sanctity of his family and confiscated some of his personal belongings.
Stressing that the failure of the families to find their detained families is considered a “crime” against the Iranian regime, the organization is calling on the security services to immediately reveal the location of detention. The organization pointed out that relatives of the detainees are suffering to find the location of the detainees, while the Iranian regime’s response has always been “we do not have detainees”.
Considering these tragic situations, the Ahwazi Organization for the Defense of Human Rights condemns the policy of random and systematic arrests that primarily targets Ahwazi citizens.
The organization is calling the UN Security Council and the United Nations to activate the humanitarian truces and to stop the conflicts and hostilities in light of the outbreak of the Coronavirus, while the Iranian regime is resisting, persevering, and practicing the utmost violence and abuse against the defenseless people of Ahwaz.
Accordingly, the organization demands the international community to take a strict decision to hold the Iranian regime accountable and to stop the acts of violence and abuse that affect all parts of the Ahwazi society.
