Iranian Regime Continues Series of Unjust Death Sentences over Attack
Ahwazi Organization for the Defense of Human Rights “AODHR” condemns the recent unfair death sentences by Iran’s Revolution Court in Ahwaz, the capital, over military parade events.
The latest death sentences included the detainee Sayed Mortada Mousawi, 20-year-old, who was arrested from his house in al-Khefajeyyah (Susangerd) for allegedly participating in the targeting of a military parade of the Revolutionary Guards in Ahwaz, in the case known as Viewing Stand Operation.
The organization clarifies that the arrest of Mousawi took place in July 2018, two months before the operation is carried out, noting that the main reason for arrest is that he is a Sunni.
The organization clarifies that the ruling, in accordance with article 287 of the “Islamic Penal” law, is not categorical and can be appealed within ten days, noting that the detainee is a university youth who has not been previously arrested or charged in any case.
The organization calls on all human rights and humanitarian organizations, particularly the Human Rights Council, to move quickly to put an end to the unjust death sentence against the Ahwazi young man, Mousawi.
