Detainee Bassem Jassem al-Batrani Paralyzed by Torture in Shiban Prison
Trusted sources confirmed deterioration of the health situation of the Ahwazi detainee Bassem Jassem al-Batrani in in the capital’s Shiban prison.
The sources confirmed that al-Batrani was paralyzed two weeks ago following the harsh systematic physical torture inflicted on him in the prison cells of the occupation, with apparent intransigence against taking him to hospital.
His family and international human rights organizations put pressure on the Iranian regime to quickly hospitalize him.
The sources pointed out that political prisoners in prison cells of the Iranian regime help the Ahwazi detainee in necessities, threatening at the same time to go on a hunger strike in protest against not taking al-Batrani to hospital.
The Ahwazi detainee al-Batrani is the brother of the martyr Ali Jassem al-Batrani, who was killed during the April 2005 uprising during peaceful demonstrations after the Revolutionary Guard forces attacked the protesters and sprayed them with bullets and tear gas.
Iranian authorities arrested al-Batrani several times, most recently several months ago, after arresting him along with his brother Hassan Jassem al-Batrani, without clear charges.
The Ahwazi Organization for the Defence of Human Rights “AODHR” calls on human rights organizations around the world, including Amnesty International and the UN Human Rights Council, to intervene to put pressure on the Iranian regime to solve the crisis of the detainee Jassem al-Batrani and others like him of detainees in the prisons and detention centers of the Iranian regime.
