AODHR Welcomes the Decision to Release of ASMLA’s Vice-President
The Ahwazi Organization for the Defence of Human Rights “AODHR” welcomes the decision of the Polish judiciary to release Mr. Habib Alaswad, Vice-President of The Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahwaz “ASMLA”, stressing that this decision is historic and a triumph for the Ahwazi cause at the level of the international fora.
The organization notes that Alaswad was arrested more than two months ago and remained in custody by the Polish authorities based on a decision by the Interpol because of demands by the Iranian regime to extradite him as an activist against the latter.
The organization explained that the decision to release ASMLA’s deputy head by the Polish judiciary was based on the fact that Iran issues unfair sentences to execute human rights activists where justice is absent.
At the same time, the organization thanks all the Ahwazi and non-Ahwazi human rights organizations that have made efforts to secure the release of Alaswad, and issued messages in this regard, foremost of which is Amnesty International, which put pressure on the Polish judiciary to issue the release decision.
