AODHR Condemns “Iranian Terrorism” Towards Relief Committees in Ahwaz
The Ahwazi Organization for the Defense of Human Rights (AODHR) condemns the continuation of the terrorist approach led by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s security and intelligence elements against the Ahwazi people working in the field of public relief and cultural committees formed for the relief of the victims in the wake of the man-made floods that hit the Ahwazi lands.
The organization asserts that the wave of unjust arrests took place on 29 April 2019 after the Iranian regime failed to terrorize the members of the mentioned committees through issuing several warnings.
The list of detainees includes, but not limited to:
1. Mr. Naji Swari, an Ahwazi teacher, writer, cultural activist and a member of the Ahwazi relief committees, who was arrested from his residence in Al-Thawra district southwest of Ahwaz city;
2. Mr. Ali Abidawi, a teacher, cultural activist and a member of the Ahwazi relief committees;
3. Mr. Abdullah Frisat, a cultural and civil activist and member of the Ahwazi relief committees;
4. Mr. Maher Dsoumi, cultural and civil activist and co-founder of Al-Helal Ahwazi Cultural Foundation.
AODHR calls upon the international community and international human rights groups to intervene immediately and urgently to release the detainees and take all measures to protect them until their release.
The organization calls on the international human rights bodies to activate the file of detainees in international institutions to stop the arbitrary measures led by the Iranian regime against the members of the relief and cultural committees.
